Wallpaper installation in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, on walls prepped to take it
Accent walls, powder rooms, dining rooms, nurseries, and murals. The paper is only half the job in Oklahoma, because almost every wall here is textured and has to be smoothed before anything will hang flat.

Why textured walls have to be smoothed first
Orange peel and knockdown texture are on nearly every wall in Tulsa and Oklahoma City homes built since the 1970s. Hang wallpaper over texture and every bump shows through the paper as a shadow, the seams never fully close, and the adhesive only touches the high spots so the paper lifts at the edges within months.
Danco skim-coats textured walls with joint compound, sands them smooth, primes them, and then applies wallpaper sizing, a primer made specifically to give the paste something to hold and to let the paper slide into position while it is being hung. Sizing also makes the paper removable later without tearing the drywall face off. It is the step that separates a professional job from a weekend one.
Hanging it right
- Plumb first strip. Walls and corners are rarely true; the first strip is set to a plumb line, not to the corner, so the pattern does not drift across the room
- Pattern matched at every seam, including straight-match and drop-match repeats
- Seams butted, not overlapped, and rolled so they disappear
- Corners wrapped and cut so the paper does not pull away as the house moves through the seasons
- Outlets, switches, and trim cut clean with fresh blades
Papers Danco installs
Traditional paste-the-wall and paste-the-paper papers, non-woven, vinyl for kitchens and baths, grasscloth and other naturals, peel-and-stick, and large-format murals. Each one is handled differently: grasscloth seams are meant to show a little and need careful planning; vinyl wants a mildew-resistant adhesive in a bathroom; murals have to be centered on the wall before the first panel goes up.
A word on peel-and-stick: it does not work on textured walls, period, and it struggles on anything but a smooth, primed surface. If that is the product you have, the wall still needs to be skimmed and primed first.
Measuring and ordering
Danco measures the wall and tells you how many rolls or panels to order based on the roll width, the pattern repeat, and the right amount of overage, which is the part people get wrong when they order from a website. Running one roll short on a discontinued pattern or a different dye lot is a real problem; ordering is cheaper. Danco also checks that the roll numbers match before anything is cut.
Wallpaper removal
Old paper gets scored, soaked, and stripped, then the wall is washed to remove the paste residue that makes new paint peel. Walls that were never sized come off in small pieces and take longer; walls that were sized come off in sheets. After removal, the wall is repaired and either prepped for new paper or primed and painted. See interior painting for the paint side.

Wallpaper questions
Yes, after the texture is skim-coated smooth, sanded, primed, and sized. Hanging paper directly over orange peel or knockdown shows every bump and fails at the seams, so Danco does not do it.
Danco measures and tells you, based on the roll size, the pattern repeat, and sensible overage. Order everything at once so the dye lots match.
No. It needs a smooth, primed surface. The wall has to be skimmed and primed first, same as traditional paper.
Yes. Scored, soaked, stripped, and the paste residue washed off before the wall is repaired and either re-papered or primed and painted.
If the wall is already smooth, usually a day. Textured walls need a day or two of skim coating and drying first, then the hanging day.
