Epoxy flooring in OKC and Tulsa that stays stuck to the slab
Garage and shop floors ground, repaired, and coated. The coating is the easy part. The concrete prep underneath is why one epoxy floor peels under hot tires in a year and another is still clean a decade later.

The floor is only as good as the prep
Every failed epoxy floor Danco has been asked to look at failed the same way: the coating let go of the concrete. Not because the epoxy was bad, but because it was rolled over a slab that was sealed, damp, dusty, or acid-etched instead of ground. So the Danco process spends most of its time on the concrete.
- Moisture test. Slabs without a vapor barrier, common on older homes in both metros, can push moisture up through the concrete and pop a coating from below. Danco tests before quoting a system, not after it fails.
- Diamond grinding. The slab is mechanically ground to open the surface so the epoxy soaks in and locks on. Acid etching does not do this reliably, and a slab with an old sealer on it will reject the coating entirely without grinding.
- Crack and joint repair. Cracks are chased, filled, and ground flush. Control joints are filled or honored depending on the slab and the look you want.
- Oil and stain treatment. Years of drips get degreased and spot-treated; epoxy will not bond over oil.
- Coat. A primer or base coat, broadcast flake or solid color, then a topcoat for wear and chemical resistance.
Hot tires and Oklahoma summers
A garage slab in July in Oklahoma City or Tulsa gets hot. Tires coming off the highway are hotter. When a hot tire sits on a thin or poorly bonded coating overnight, it softens the film, and when the car backs out the next morning it takes a tire-shaped patch of floor with it. That is hot-tire pickup, and it is the number one complaint about cheap epoxy here.
The fix is the prep above plus the right system: a properly ground slab, a full-build coat instead of a thin paint-like layer, and a topcoat chosen for heat and UV. Danco will recommend the topcoat for how you use the space. A garage with a west-facing door that bakes every afternoon gets a different recommendation than a shaded shop.
Finish options
- Full flake: the classic garage look. Hides dust and tire marks, adds slip resistance, comes in dozens of blends
- Solid color: clean and simple for shops and commercial spaces where you want to see what you dropped
- Anti-slip additive in the topcoat for garages that get wet or shops with foot traffic
- Cove base or painted stem walls so the floor finishes cleanly at the edges
Timeline and cure
A typical two-car garage is a two-day project: grind, repair, and base coat on day one, flake and topcoat on day two. Most systems take foot traffic the next day and vehicles after several days of cure; Danco gives you the exact numbers for the system being installed, and they are on the written estimate. Clear the garage before the crew arrives, or ask about help moving the heavy items.
Pair the floor with painted walls and trim in the garage and the whole space reads as finished.

Epoxy flooring questions
Yes, when the slab is ground (not etched), the coating is built to full thickness, and the topcoat is chosen for heat and UV. Hot-tire pickup happens on thin coatings over poorly prepared concrete. The prep is the difference.
Two days for a typical two-car garage. Foot traffic the next day; vehicles after several days of cure. The exact cure times for your system are written on the estimate.
Usually. Cracks are chased, filled, and ground flush before coating. Danco also moisture-tests older slabs, because concrete without a vapor barrier can push a coating off from below. If a slab is not a good candidate, Danco says so before you spend anything.
Flake hides dust, tire marks, and small imperfections and adds grip; it is the most popular garage finish. Solid color is cleaner for shops where you want to see what you dropped. Either can get an anti-slip additive.
Yes, the floor needs to be completely clear. Ask Danco about help with heavy items when you schedule.
Want a garage floor you can hose off?
Tell Danco the size of the garage or shop and send a photo of the slab. Danco will come test it, talk through finishes, and put the price in writing.
